So, today was marked with those life-y little moments that tell you how much timing plays a role in our interpretation of things. Some examples:
I went to campus early to work and study for my last final. Shaggy hair was starting to annoy, now that Utah's decided that spring is here. So, I get a haircut at the BYU barbershop. Lady asks me, "You here for a haircut?" I pause a little too long before asking, "what else can I do here?" She looks at me confusedly before I smile and sit down, saying "a 2 on the sides, thanks."
While getting my hair cut, my neighbor, who has previously cut my hair in her apartment, walks in. Apparently she works there. I felt awkward for not scheduling a time with her to get my hair cut, but I'm a unique combination of lazy and busy. I had my glasses off, so it wasn't until she was RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME that I realized it was her. Mildly awkward conversation ensues.
I finished my last final around 4:15, and walked home. Two blocks from home, I realized I still had a student's final in my bag, and had left my food on my desk at work. So, I get home, hop in the car, and head back to campus.
Once on campus, I made good progress on a work project. I'm getting ready to go home, thinking how nice Spring will be starting tomorrow, being less busy, when I get a phone call from the Stake President's secretary, asking if my wife and I can come to meet with the Stake President tomorrow afternoon. Details TBA. So much for free time.
